It used to be you could only get stock trading advice from official members of the stock exchange or stockbrokers.  There are courses and seminars and books you can purchase to get stock trading advice – but there are now specific chat rooms available on the internet where people gather to discuss strategies and support one another.  The participants in stock trading chat rooms are eager to share their own experiences and network with other traders.

Where to Find Stock Trading Chat Rooms

If you are interested in taking part in online chat rooms for stock traders, you can start by finding communities that focus on stock trading.  Many forums exist as part of larger financial and investment websites, and even Yahoo groups exist for stock trading topics; once you are a member of these forums and groups, you can typically participate in live chat rooms for the members.

Some online communities for stock trading are free, while others charge a monthly or annual membership.  Before you pay for a membership site, make sure it offers what you are looking for in terms of stock trading advice, features, and an online chat room.

Chat Room Rules

If you join a stock trading chat room, you will want to remember the basic rules for any online chat.  There should never be any racist comments, harassment or foul language.  It is best to try and avoid typos so that the other participants in a stock trading chat room can understand what you are saying without any misunderstandings.

Most people expect to use a stock trading chat room to sell or trade stocks with other traders.  Some will visit the chat rooms in an effort to discuss stock market trends and best practices.  Keep an eye on a particular chat room or online community’s set of rules, as each may have their own requirements for what you are allowed and not allowed to do while chatting.  Breaking the rules can result in having your account banned temporarily or permanently.

While you may receive excellent advice from experienced stock traders in an online chat room, it’s important to keep in mind you cannot tell who is behind the computer screen.  Just because someone is talking about strategies that have worked for them in the past and offering advice does not mean they are qualified to do so.  Take everything you learn from a stock trading chat room with a grain of salt – and analyze and do your own research before putting it into action for your own investment purposes.
